Anna will be sharing lots of powerful insights and lessons to support swimmers looking to take their Freestyle sprinting to the next level. Team
Anna Hopkin MBE
Anna has had an incredible journey, training in both the UK and abroad throughout her career. She has had breaks from the sport along the way and achieved the pinnacle of swimming success at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics when she won gold.
Rob Norman
Rob is a very experienced swimming specific Strength and Conditioning Coach who has a wealth of knowledge around how to best compliment the metres done in the pool with a truly World Class Dry Strength and Conditioning Programme. After working with British Swimming from 2017 to 2023, Rob now personally works alongside Adam Peaty and supports our AP Race Athletes.
Tom Bates
For nearly two decades Tom has been studying and applying his knowledge of performance psychology all over the world through various sports. Pro athletes and club level swimmers alike engage with his unique mentality towards performing and winning. Tom has a way of engaging everyone that he speaks to so you feel like you are on the edge of your seat with his revolutionary ideas of how swimmers can unlock their minds to help them get the most out of the pool.
Kevin Pickard
Kevin has worked in the swimming space now for 20 years, supporting swimmers, coaches, and parents. His specialism is insights into the hurdles that parents face along the journey, and across the parent station at the Race Clinic, parents will have extensive opportunities to ask questions and explore the challenges they are facing.
There will also be several support staff including team managers and media representatives.
Content
Swim Station
Led by Anna, the pool work will be based around the key Freestyle skills that have allowed Anna to excel at all levels of the sport. The focus will be centred around delivering world class skills and focussing on the small details that make a BIG difference! Swimmers will work on the technical details of the stroke and the turns.
Gym Station
The Gym session will be led by Rob. Gym work is vital to a swimming programme and as the expert in swimming specific gym work, Rob can offer unique insights. The skills learned in this station can be performed without any equipment and all 100% focussed around quality.
Racing Edge Station
The Racing Edge Station will be led by Tom. This station will be focused on how swimmers transition from good to great, working on the finer details that are always forgotten but sometimes the most critical. Tom will be helping swimmers to master their minds to get the most out of their performances.
Parent Station
As a swimming parent, you want your child to be the best they can be, but it is often hard to find the right balance between wanting to help your swimmers achieve their best results but ensuring they are having the best experience possible on their swimming journey. Whilst the swimmers are at the Racing Edge Station, the parents of those swimmers are invited to attend this station where Kev will be running a workshop and open Q&A to support you on your swimming journey as a swimming parent.
Presentation and Q&A
To round off the day, Anna will be giving a presentation around her journey through swimming, the lessons she has learned, how she has managed to retain success for so long and explore her pursuit of becoming Better Than Yesterday. Anna will also provide swimmers and parents with an opportunity to ask any questions they may have at the end of her presentation.
